Sparse Layered MIMO With Iterative Detection

In this paper, we propose a novel transmission scheme, called sparse layered MIMO (SL-MIMO), that combines non-orthogonal and singular value decomposition (SVD) precoding. Non-orthogonality in SL-MIMO allows re-using of the eigen-channels which improves spectral efficiency error rate performance system through enhancing coding gain diversity gain. We also present low-complexity message-passing (MP) detector for proposed performs quite close to maximum likelihood (ML). The joint moment generating function (MGF) xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">ordered eigenvalues is calculated used derive closed-form upper bound on average word probability (AWEP) system, derived expression then analyze system. use our analytical results design sub-optimal codebooks minimize Simulation $4\times 4$ notation="LaTeX">$6\times 6$ multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems with 4-ary, 16-ary, 64-ary constellations show scheme outperforms competing approaches such as X- Y-codes terms performance. has 5.6 dB advantage compared X-codes 4.7 MIMO constellation.
